Brent Portell is the founder and managing principal of DBP Wealth Advisory Group LLC, bringing more than 35 years of wisdom and experience in the financial planning industry. Brent leads with a listen-first philosophy. Before any planning begins, his focus is on understanding a client’s family, business and long term goals. Brent’s experience in multi generational family enterprise makes him uniquely qualified to walk his clients through the financial planning process leveraging his proficiency, commitment to partnership, and the family first care that is central to his value system.
Brent frequently collaborates with a client’s attorneys, accountants and other advisors, believing a team based approach leads to stronger outcomes. Brent is an advisor, educator, coach and confidante, equipping his clients to make informed decisions with trust and confidence.
Over his career, he has walked alongside his clients and own family through every stage of their financial lives, giving him a firsthand view of how sound counsel compounds over time. Above all, Brent is a family-first leader who places integrity and client care at the forefront of his analysis.

Brent is a Highland, IL native where he lives with his wife, Kathy, and their four children: Brock (who is also a part of the DBP Wealth Advisory Group LLC team), Brode, Rece Derian, and Brylee. Brent is happiest surrounded by his family and friends enjoying live music, lake weekends with friends or on the golf course. Brent has committed his life to being a constant champion for his clients, his family and helping people realize their goals and dreams. Brent’s commitment to family keeps him anchored and grounded in the success that he has created. His proficiency and wisdom as an advisor is notable, but it is the way he shows up in everyday life in humility and care that is unmatched.
